Ok.. so, you get a bunch o mushrooms, thinly sliced beef, fish balls, greens, some dumpling looking things, carrots, plug in the pot, pour in some water, get it all going and you got your self a hot pot. Makes a great dinner for those cold evenings, really popular thing here, a nice hot meal to help keep you warm. Taiwan is a tropical island but it still has a winter, temps have been in the 50's mostly, and damp all the time. Most buildings do not have heating systems including this one, and most walls are concrete with no insulation including this one. All that adds up to never really feeling that warm unless your having hot pot for dinner, doing the dishes with your hands in nice warm water, or the obvious hot shower. Your are kind of always cold here... you get used to it sort of.. New York may be in the 20's but at least you get a nice cozy home to go to.
